AstroNube

Cookies and browser storage

What Astronube stores on your device, why, and how to change your mind.

Astronube does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party cookies. The list below is everything.

Your current choice

1. Essential

Set only when you take a specific action. No consent banner is shown for these because GDPR / ePrivacy treat them as “strictly necessary”.

NameTypePurposeSet whenLasts
session HTTP cookie Keeps you logged in. You log in or register. Until you log out or close the browser.

2. Functional / preferences

Used to remember your choices across visits. Set only after you accept on the consent banner. Stored on your device using localStorage — nothing is sent to our servers.

NameTypePurposeSet whenLasts
astro_locations localStorage Your shooting locations (latitude, Bortle class, notes). You add or edit a location. Until you clear browser data.
astro_active_loc localStorage Which location is currently selected. You pick a location. Until you clear browser data.
astro_owned_lenses localStorage The focal lengths you own, so the lens picker only shows yours. You tick lenses in the gear modal. Until you clear browser data.
astro_gear_profile localStorage Your camera, mount, and sensor crop factor. You save the gear modal. Until you clear browser data.
astro_custom_targets localStorage Targets you've added via the admin page (offline copy). You add or import a custom target. Until you clear browser data.
astro_sessions localStorage Your astrophotography session log (date, lens, ratings, notes). You log a session. Until you clear browser data.
astro_theme localStorage Light / dark colour scheme preference. You toggle the theme button. Until you clear browser data.
astro_consent localStorage Records your cookie banner choice. Without it, we'd have to ask every visit. You click Accept or Reject on the banner. Until you clear browser data or use the “Reset” button above.

3. Third-party data transfers

Loaded only after you accept on the consent banner. If you decline, the pages fall back to your operating system fonts and no request is sent.

ServiceTypePurposeSent to providerCookies set
Google Fonts External request Loads the Syne and DM Mono typefaces on the Dwarf 3 pages. Your IP address and User-Agent string. None.

4. What changes if you decline?

5. Changing your mind

Use the buttons at the top of this page, or the Cookie preferences link in any page footer. If you decline after previously accepting, all astro_* data is cleared from your browser straight away.

6. More detail

The full technical inventory (with code references) is maintained in the project's COOKIES.md file. The wider Privacy policy covers what we do with personal data on the server side.
